💜💚 GET INVOLVED AT BADGER HILL 💚💜

We are looking for pupils who would like to get involved in making a difference across our academy.

💜 Year 5/6 Wellbeing Ambassadors
Working alongside Mrs McCready and our Year 6 Leaders of Wellbeing, our Wellbeing Ambassadors ...help us to promote positive mental wellbeing across school. This could include leading assemblies, supporting events such as Children’s Mental Health Week or even coming up with their own ideas, such as lunchtime clubs and activities.

📚 Year 1–5 Reading Ambassadors
Our Reading Ambassadors work alongside Mrs Easby and our Year 6 Leaders of Reading to help promote a love of reading across Badger Hill. They may help to choose new books for our library and book vending machine, share their ideas and help us organise special events such as World Book Day.

⚽ Year 1–5 Sports Council
Working with Miss Cook and our Year 6 Sports Captains, the Sports Council will have a voice in sport and active play across the academy. They may help us think about playground equipment and activities, support other pupils at playtimes and get involved in events such as Sports Day and our Spirit of the Games assemblies. Older pupils may also have opportunities such as Playground Leader training.

These roles are shaped by the children themselves, so we are excited to hear their ideas about what they would like to do and how they could make a difference at Badger Hill.

🌈 Our Wonderful Two-Year-Olds! 🌈

What a lovely week we have had with our amazing two-year-olds! 💕 It has been wonderful to watch them confidently explore our different areas, becoming more independent and enjoying playing alongside their friends.

We have been getting ...creative and making lots of marks using sand, shaving foam and paper — lots of messy, sensory fun. ✋🎨

Our little ones have also been busy developing their gross motor skills by dancing to music, climbing, and pushing themselves along on our bikes. 🚲🎶 They have been showing us just how active and determined they can be.

We have been talking about what makes us special and celebrating all the wonderful things that make each of us unique. 🌟💛

There has been lots of singing too, with “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” being a firm favourite this week. 🎵👏 We have loved joining in with the actions, dancing and having lots of fun together.

Well done, everyone for another wonderful week of playing, exploring, learning and growing. 🌱💖

🏉 Year 5/6 Rugby 🏉

We are so proud of our incredible Year 5/6 boys, who gave it their absolute all at the T1 Rugby event at St Peter’s.

The boys demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship, Team Spirit and Respect throughout, supporting and cheering each other on every step of ...the way. 💜

Competing against eight teams across two leagues, they battled hard to secure a brilliant 3rd place in their league before some exciting play-off matches saw them finish an impressive 5th overall. 👏

A fantastic effort from Team Badger Hill. Well done, boys! 🐾

We’ve had such a fun and busy week filled with learning, exploring, and embracing the changing seasons in Nursery.

Here’s a peak at what we’ve been up to this week:

✨ What Makes Us Unique: We’ve been learning all about our own features and what makes each of us special. ...Outdoors, the children got creative using natural loose parts to build amazing self-portraits. 🖼

🌧️ Autumn Adventures: We've been investigating all the magical changes taking place in nature. On Wednesday, we suited up in our full waterproofs and had the absolute best time jumping and exploring when we got caught in a real torrential downpour.

🍎 Autumn Apple Magic: We went apple picking and brought our harvest straight to the outdoor mud kitchen! The children have been busy whipping up delicious pretend apple pies, crumbles, and fresh apple juice.

🌟 PROUD 🌟

It was another fantastic PROUD this week, with children from across school coming to share their work with our Senior Leadership Team.

It was wonderful to see so many incredible examples of learning and to hear the children speak so proudly about what they have ...achieved. From beautiful presentation to fantastic progress and brilliant pieces of work, there was so much to celebrate.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, effort and determination our Badgers continue to show. 💜

✨ Junior Leadership Team Applications ✨

This week, our Year 6 children took an incredibly brave step as they read aloud their applications for a place on our Junior Leadership Team.

With roles including Head Student, Deputy Head Student, Curriculum Leader, Reading Leader, ...Wellbeing Leader, House Captains and Prefects, it was wonderful to hear our children speak so passionately about Badger Hill. 💜

Some were understandably nervous, but every single child stood up and shared something from their application. We were so proud of the confidence, courage and maturity they showed. They spoke thoughtfully about our Badger Values, learning across school, how they would like to support others and the qualities and strengths they recognise in themselves. ⭐

Mrs Brook also spoke to the children about the British Value of democracy and how everyone's voice counts. 🗳️ Later today, children across school will cast their votes for who they would like to represent them as our Head and Deputy Head Students.

With such a high calibre of speeches, choosing will certainly not be easy. The successful candidates will be revealed at Year 6's Fish and Tips evening.

Whatever the outcome, we are incredibly proud of every Year 6 child who put themselves forward. 💜
