🏊🚴🏃 World Champion Triathlete James Wilson Inspires KS2 at Badger Hill
Excitement roared through Badger Hill today as our Key Stage 2 pupils welcomed a very special visitor – local sporting legend James Wilson, who proudly represents Great Britain as a Veteran's ...Triathlete. 🇬🇧 James spent the day sharing his incredible journey from a young local swimmer to a world-class athlete, winning an amazing four World Championship titles! 🏆
James told the children how his passion for sport began at just 8 years old with the Loftus Dolphins. 🐬
For the past 15 years, James has proudly worn the GB kit, travelling the world to compete. 🌍 He has recently returned from competing in Tarragona, Spain, and has also raced in the USA. 🇪🇸🇺🇸 Amazingly, James balances competing at the highest level alongside working full-time as an electrician. 🔧
"It takes a lot of hard work, but it's worth it," James told the inspired audience. 💪
His determination has led to an incredible career, becoming World Champion four times with historic victories in Chicago, Australia, the Netherlands and Düsseldorf. 🌟
Despite facing several injuries throughout his career, James reminded the children never to give up. 💙 He also explained that age is no barrier in triathlon, with competitors in some age groups racing well into their 80s! 👏
Following his presentation, it was time for our budding journalists to take over! ❓ Our KS2 pupils asked some fantastic questions:
💬 Kayan asked which of the three disciplines was his favourite. Without hesitation, James replied, "Swimming!" 🏊
💬 Isabelle asked why he started in the first place. James explained that sport is fantastic for both your mental wellbeing and physical health. ❤️🧠
💬 Bella wanted to know about his training schedule. The room was amazed to hear that James trains for around 2 hours every day—that's 14 hours a week! ⏱️
💬 When asked about the longest triathlon he has ever completed, James left everyone stunned:
🏊 2km swim
🚴 80km bike ride
🏃 23km run
What an incredible achievement! 🤯👏
The visit left our KS2 pupils feeling inspired, motivated and excited to chase their own sporting dreams. 🌟 A huge thank you to James for sharing his story and proving that with hard work, resilience and determination, anything is possible! 💙

📚 Bringing Stories to Life with Cleveland Sports Partnership! 📚
A huge thank you to the fantastic team at Cleveland Sports Partnership for delivering such an energetic, engaging and meaningful experience for our children! 💙
Our pupils had an amazing time bringing some of ...their favourite storybooks to life while developing important life skills through fun, active learning.
🐞 What the Ladybird Heard
The children developed their teamwork skills by safely guiding their friends through an obstacle course while blindfolded, learning the importance of trust, communication and working together.
🦒 Giraffes Can't Dance
We celebrated determination with a dance party! Every time the music stopped, the children challenged themselves to hold a balance before taking on an exciting obstacle course.
🐛 The Crunching Munching Caterpillar
Through jumping challenges and catching colourful butterflies floating through the air, the children explored self-belief as they helped the caterpillar collect food.
👽🩲 Aliens Love Underpants
Our children showed fantastic enthusiasm as they matched pairs of underpants and worked together to hang them on the washing line, demonstrating great teamwork along the way.
🧥 The Smartest Giant in Town
During a lively game of Underpants Tig, the children discussed the importance of honesty and making kind, thoughtful choices.
It has been wonderful to see our children demonstrating resilience, confidence, kindness and enthusiasm throughout every activity. We are incredibly proud of everything they achieved while having so much fun! 🌟
Thank you once again to Cleveland Sports Partnership for creating such memorable learning experiences. We can't wait to welcome you back again! 💙🙌

⚽️ What an unforgettable Football Day! ⚽️
We were absolutely thrilled to welcome ex-Sunderland player Daisy Cook to our school today! Daisy is currently playing football over in America, but she took some time out to inspire our next generation of sports stars.
She ...delivered a fantastic football careers talk to everyone from Reception all the way up to Year 6, sharing what it takes to make it to the pro level and live the dream abroad. Afterwards, she got out on the pitch to run an amazing football session with the children!
The energy, smiles, and skills on display today were incredible.
A massive thank you to Daisy for inspiring us all and showing our pupils just where hard work and passion can take you! 🙌🔴⚪️

☀️🎉 Badger Hill Summer Fair 2026 – What a Fantastic Afternoon! 🎉☀️
It was absolutely wonderful to see so many of our families and members of our school community enjoying our Summer Fair this week. With glorious sunshine from start to finish, the weather couldn't have ...been more perfect for an afternoon of fun! 🌞💛
There was something for everyone to enjoy, with a fantastic selection of stalls, exciting rides and inflatable attractions keeping children (and quite a few grown-ups too! 😄) entertained throughout the afternoon.
It was amazing to see so many of you being brave enough to handle a variety of reptiles and magnificent birds of prey 🦎🦅, while those looking for something a little more relaxed enjoyed a lovely stroll on the donkeys. 🫏 Miss Tremain and Mrs Tierney also worked their magic with face paints and sparkling face gems, and the children looked absolutely fabulous! ✨🎨
Of course, no Summer Fair would be complete without delicious food, and there was certainly plenty to choose from! Families tucked into fish and chips, tasty burgers and hot dogs, refreshing ice creams 🍦 and enjoyed a well-earned coffee from the coffee stand. ☕
We were also delighted to welcome representatives from our local police and fire service. 🚓🚒 The police officers enjoyed chatting with families and answering questions, while the fire engine proved to be a huge attraction, giving children the opportunity to climb aboard and learn more about the incredible work of our emergency services. Those sirens could definitely be heard for miles! 🚨😄
A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped organise the event, volunteered their time, ran stalls, donated prizes and supported the fair. Your hard work, generosity and enthusiasm made the day such a memorable success. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and our whole school community coming together to enjoy such a fantastic afternoon. 💙🦡
We're currently busy counting up all the takings and will let everyone know how much we've raised as soon as we can. Thank you once again for your incredible support—we can't wait to do it all again at Christmas. Save the date for our Christmas Fair on 25th November. 🎉💛
