💚 FOOTPRINTS IN THE COMMUNITY – REDCAR FOODBANK 🥫

At the start of the week, we were joined by Fiona from Redcar Foodbank, who shared all about the amazing work they do to support people in our local community. 💚

It was eye-opening to learn that over 250 people access ...the different foodbanks across Redcar and Cleveland, including our local foodbank at the Methodist Church in Brotton.
Fiona shared how people collecting a food parcel are welcomed with a cuppa and a chat ☕. These small acts of kindness, friendship and connection can make such a huge difference, helping people feel valued, supported and less alone.

We also enjoyed hearing about the other fantastic projects supporting local people and families, including First Steps, which provides baby and children’s clothing and equipment, and New Start, which helps people set up a home with essential household items. 🏡
We were particularly touched to hear about the Over-50s Project, where adults can enjoy a home-cooked meal and, just as importantly, the company of others. ❤️

🥫 HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
As a school, we are keen to support this wonderful work, so we are holding a school collection for donations.

The items most needed at the moment are:
🧴 Toiletries, such as shampoo, toothpaste and soap
🥔 Tinned potatoes

Every donation, however small, would be greatly appreciated and will help make a real difference to people in our local community.

We are so grateful to Fiona and everyone involved at Redcar Foodbank for the kindness, compassion and dedication they show every day. Their work is about so much more than providing food; it is about bringing people together, offering a listening ear and making sure no one feels forgotten. 💚

It’s time for another Staff Spotlight, and this week we’re shining it on Mrs Easby, our Key Stage 1 Lead and Reading Lead. 📚💜

Mrs Easby’s connection with Badger Hill goes right back to her teacher training, and she has been part of our... Badger family ever since. 💜🍰 YEAR 5 – THE RECIPE FOR A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP 🍰💜

In PSHE, Year 5 have been continuing their ‘Me and My Relationships’ topic, exploring how we communicate, socialise and interact with the different people in our lives.

This focused on what makes a healthy ...relationship, how we can nurture and look after our relationships, and how we can recognise the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships. 💭💜

The children were incredibly insightful and thoughtful, sharing some fantastic ideas and showing a real understanding of the importance of kindness, respect, trust, communication and supporting one another. ⭐

To finish the lesson, the children created their very own ‘Relationship Cakes’. 🍰 Each layer represented an important ingredient for building a happy and healthy relationship, with some wonderful ideas from the children.

A brilliant lesson filled with mature discussion, thoughtful contributions and some very creative cakes. 💜⭐

Year 6 STEP 1 Breakfast – A Fantastic Start! 🌟

Year 6 celebrated their hard work and achievements at their first STEP Breakfast, enjoying delicious bacon sandwiches, cheese toasties and toast as they received their STEP 1 results.

After just three weeks in Year 6, every ...single pupil has already made impressive progress, giving us plenty of reasons to celebrate!

The children were delighted with both their breakfast and their achievements. Ruby thoroughly "enjoyed the food!", while Heidi shared that she was "proud of her reading results because she had made a lot of improvement since Year 5."

Inara was equally pleased, explaining that she was "pleased with her SPaG results because that is a subject she does not feel confident in," while Logan proudly declared, "I am proud of my maths score because it was a brilliant score!"

We have been absolutely blown away by the children's fantastic results, but what makes us even prouder is the determination, resilience and positive attitude they have shown towards their learning.

This is just the beginning of their Year 6 journey, and we cannot wait to see what they achieve next. Keep working hard, believing in yourselves and aspiring to be your very best.
